Diabetes Foreskin Problems: A Question & Answer
|
| |
I am uncircumsized and am 22 years old. For quite a number of years now, it has been hard to retract the foreskin because the opening is not big enough. The only time I can is when my penis is limp and when I do I can see that the foreskin is beginning to stick to the head of my penis. I try to keep it as clean as possible by rinsing it with water when I shower, but apparently it is not working. What should I do? Is there anything I can do to make the opening bigger and also get it to not stick anymore? Thanks for the help. I've been kind of embarassed to ask anyone about this so this website really helps.
Answer There isn't really much you can do now. In young boys, we can sometimes get away with applying a betamethasone cream 0.05% twice a day for a month. This sometimes helps, but in adults this isn't likely to be much help. Usually, a circumcision is needed. You should see a urologist to get this checked and for some advice. Be aware that tight foreskin can sometimes be the first sign of diabetes so a blood test to check for it would be reasonable.
